Before and After Vintage Wall Shelf Makeover

[ad_1]

Thank you a lot for all of your pretty feedback about our summer time cottage main bedroom makeover on Wednesday. Per and I are so comfortable you just like the replace as a lot as we do!

As promised, here’s a put up about how I remodeled the pine wall bracket.

This wall shelf has been hanging on the bed room wall in the summertime cottage for a few years (lengthy earlier than I arrived on the scene!). Needless to say, it belongs right here! But the varnish on the pine had yellowed with age and whereas all of us love the form, the outdated look wasn’t fairly in line with the calm model we had envisioned for the newly revamped room.

Caveat: I’m not fairly positive why there’s an outdated mattress leaning towards the wall on this image obscuring the view – however I hope you get the gist because it’s the one shot I’ve!

So, we took it off the wall and I carried it to my studio the place I scrubbed it down with cleaning soap and water (an essential step!).

I chosen Tidlös paint by Jotun Lady to match the Sandberg wallpaper (the wonderful thing about this paint is that I did not have to sand down the wooden first – however in case you are seeking to perform an analogous mission on a picket merchandise, it is essential to verify the necessities first).

I utilized two layers of paint utilizing two completely different paint brush sizes – one pretty small (featured) and the opposite very small (the knobs on the drawers had been so fiddly!). Afterwards, I calmly sanded the perimeters of the drawers to make sure they slotted again into place and could possibly be pulled out and in freely. I’ve learnt this from my childhood dwelling – I had an vintage chest-of-drawers in my bed room and would wish to wiggle the drawer for about 20 minutes simply to get to my socks, it used to drive me insane!

Once the paint had dried, we hung it again on the wall utilizing a spirit-level app on the telephone (have you ever tried these kind of apps? so useful!).

Aside from drying time, your complete course of took about 2 hours.

And hey presto! A model new shelf!

I hope you just like the outcomes and feeling impressed to revamp one thing unloved too.

Who is aware of, maybe you may be taking a look at that piece at dwelling that you simply had been enthusiastic about chucking out with new eyes now? Or possibly you may uncover a drained trying merchandise of furnishings in a loppis (flea market) that nobody needs this weekend and provides it a wonderful revamp? If you do, I’d like to see the photographs!
