Backstory: What’s Behind the Redesign?

It’s been greater than a decade since we unveiled the journal’s present look, and although there have been tweaks alongside the best way, even a robust design wants greater than the occasional zhuzh. The LAM staff started to really feel just like the annual awards difficulty may higher serve the successful tasks, so that they determined to start out there. Over eight months, LAM’s artwork director Chris McGee and senior graphic designer Kristen Mastroianni labored with the journal’s current structure, typography, and shade palette, stretching the constraints and guidelines to create a design according to the journal’s graphic construction whereas feeling and looking like one thing distinct and new.
